Virtual Production: Nvidia note on the Future of Film

Nvidia!

I wished I had definitely bought stock in them about four years ago for $5.90 a share.

Sigh.

Nonetheless, Nvidia is the company pushing the envelope for photo-realistic rendering in the media world. I am learning animation on a program called iClone and purposely searched out for a dedicated computer for it. My choice wound up being a Skytech Gaming computer with a Nvidia RTX 3090 24 GB gaming video card. 24 GB. I really wanted to move this animation.

I sought out this beast of a computer because I read about the US Aircraft A-10 which was lovingly nicknamed the "Warthog". This Close Air Support (CAS) was a highly effective aircraft.

The Thunderbolt II's airframe was designed around the high-power 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary autocannon. The airframe was designed for durability, with measures such as 1,200 pounds (540 kg) of titanium armor to protect the cockpit and aircraft systems, enabling it to absorb damage and continue flying.

Its ability to take off and land from relatively short and/or unpaved runways permits operation from airstrips close to the front lines, and its simple design enables maintenance with minimal facilities. Stories abound around one engine completely shot up and wings riddled with holes and the venerable Warthog still flying.

I remember that the designers did not want to build a plane but rather get the rotary autocannon and build a plane around the cannon.

So I would buy a massive video card i.e. the autocannon and get the rest of the computer 'wrapped around it.'

Nvidia.

The latest news with my fancy Nvidia card is the following about DLSS 3.5 (link below)

NVIDIA has pioneered the AI hardware and software that is powering incredible breakthroughs across every industry. NVIDIA DLSS, one of our first major AI algorithms, was introduced five years ago and boosts performance using neural rendering, made possible by the Tensor Cores inside each GeForce RTX GPU.

Since its initial release, the AI models behind DLSS have kept learning, leading to even better results and new innovations that further multiply performance:
